More than a mere place of work, a little more than a few isolated caravans in the Israeli desert, and far more than the average workaway.
Garin Harel is the warm, enlightening home of some beautiful people with a refreshing, rare way of looking at life.
What’s worth saying, is that anyone who comes with an open heart, wide eyes and even the slightest inclination of living a life of love, will find a small community of amazing people, in which they can indulge in.
Since my time, I personally see my day’s challenges and circumstances with a clearer mind and brighter eyes, and I am set on returning (which I assure is more than a normal traveling promise) and I honestly believe that the more beautiful people who visit to call Garin Harel a home,
the sweeter life will be.

Wow..It truly is a life changing experience!
I recommend it for all of you. And if you can, try be there more than one week. I didn’t know how long I was going to stay, I took one day at a time and ended up being there for 6 weeks. It absolutely changed my life and I can’t wait to visit again.
You will meet the most loving people at the community. There is a lot of work, mostly construction work, but with all new volunteers, new friends and routines you will soon enjoy the work as much as everything else. And you get to work with an amazing guy, Ofek, who is teaching you and motivates you to do your best every day.
Before and after work there is a lot of activities. Yoga, art, meditation…
It is a very calm and relaxing place. Go to quite your mind. Or listen to amazing stories from people who live there. Or meet new volunteers that some, will be your friends for the rest of your life!
After hours of laughter, tears, sweat…. I feel so much Love. Because Love is all there really is.

Living and not only working with you was an amazing experience.
I learned a lot about myself, got so much new energy and now know a little bit more how to handle it due to all the wonderful classes that we had during this week.
A special big hug and thank you to Roi. 🙂
When you get mixed up with this new bunch of great people it may be a bit challenging to be outgoing but it is really worth it. You can be yourself, you can always talk to people and you are never alone.
In the end you might find yourself grown up, especially the movement class showed and ensured me that I don’t need to be afraid.
If you can- stay longer than a week!! But watch out in the end you might want to stay forever 🙂
Kisses, hugs and love

To all the lovely people of the community, Thank you for sharing your life with us.
This was much more then a work exchange.
The self-awareness program brings you closer to everything. To the people, the work you do, the food you eat,… It makes you connect, and love. People were so open to share with us what they have, their love and knowledge. The volunteer team does such a great job organizing the week for you. Just amazing.
It’s the one place where you can be your true self. To be, but also to discover and explore.
To grow and to change.
After my short stay of tree weeks, I felt so enlightened in this bubble of light.
Everyone lives and acts from the heart.
People follow the rhythm of the heart. It’s a great opportunity to become aware of all the beauty inside and around you, to observe yourself, and to reflect.
I’m eternally grateful for this opportunity, You are in my heart.
Oh words do not describe this place.
You have to see and feel…

What an amazing community!!
Welcoming, warm, intuitive, and caring are just a few adjectives that come to mind!
The Awarness program was very deep and well planned, with wonderful teachers that clearly “practice what they preach.”
I am so happy that I came to see this community in action
Thanks for having me!

For me, volunteering at Garin Harel was much more than I expected: The days were pretty tough especially in the beginning, but every day your body and your mind become more into the community and the life there.
After a few mindfulness lessons and working days I started to feel more aware of how I am working.
I found ways to work more efficiently without just working faster and feeling in a rush.
Besides that, I felt much happier during work and I started to enjoy working, And most important for me: I found a way to still have energy inside me even after the work finished.
The volunteers receive so much in return, I didn’t feel just like a girl working for her accommodation but more like a part of the community because we were treated so well!
Volunteering at Garin Harel is a time I will always remember… I do not think I’ve ever been so happy and so aware of myself and my circumstances.
I felt so satisfied and fulfilled in my time there!
Thank You so much for everything!

I was staying in Garin Harel for two weeks in july 2016.
I enjoyed getting to know a community that has chosen a unique way of life.
I liked living in a place where people truly love each other.
This probably doesn’t quite describe what I experienced there—it was a fantastic feeling!
It’s a new community of young settlers that needs volunteers to help developing their settlement.
In exchange you will be participating in a spiritual and physical program that has been successfully running for a year now.
Expect yoga and physical work in the open air. Volunteers are provided with clean and comfortable accommodations with two bathrooms, a separate kitchen and a washing machine.
Thank you for the amazing experience

Actually i want to write something as special as the time has been on this place but it’s kind of indescribable. To leave this place is almost impossible…
It’s like magic and it’s truly a different world but it’s just natural. Everyone is sharing, loving, aware of each other, not judging, open minded and with a big open heart! If you want to, there is no limit about what you can talk to this wonderful people and there is so much beauty that comes from the inside of everyone!
The mindfulness & self-discovery program they offer is unique. You don’t just talk about ideas you are able to practice a lot. In the end you have to be the change but they create the best atmosphere. It was so much fun at work, especially digging! …and I miss this ground. The work made me feel very connected. The program is full of eye-opening classes and I’m still thinking about this…
I want to thank you guys for being beautiful mirrors and yourself. Just by watching you living together I was feeling grateful and full of love.
I got closer to myself and opened up a bit more to the world. Every minute I stayed there was part of a progress and a big present of life. Many things changed in my mind and my heart. Thanks for all the open hearts, hugs, smiles, conversations, wisdom, love, good vibe, laugher, awareness, care, advices, wishes, sharing, invitations, the yellow flowers around… And the opportunity to come to this beautiful place!
Before I went there I didn’t think that a community can have a big impact to the world but now I think it’s possible. I remember a nice sentence I heard in the community: “I wanted to change the world but the world changed me and through this I changed the world.”
Many seeds are placed in all of us volunteers. Living and working together with this group was a big lesson and a lot of fun.
Keep on enjoying life!
Lots of love,

What can I say about this wonderful light community? It was my first stop in Israel and I stayed for 5 weeks.
It’s a great place for anyone who is interested in exploring various spiritual topics. You get to live in a house with people from all over the world and work on various projects from gardening to mud insulating. This community is truly a special place and if you feel drawn to it, go for it! I hope to go again someday.
I left feeling open hearted and living in my light. Thank you for all the awesome memories and lessons Garin Harel!
A my love, Colleen

I spent a week at Garin Harel and it was one of the most thought-provoking and eye-opening experience I’ve had whilst traveling for sure.
The place was amazing, volunteers stay in a cozy house together and I had so much fun with the other volunteers there. The work was varied and not too difficult, I found it very interesting. Working hours were nice and you had plenty of spare time. The members of the community I got to meet and talk to were all so nice and very easy to talk to. The spiritual classes we had were the most interesting part for me, and you could really feel how much time the community spent on the volunteers making sure we had a good time. I would recommend this place to anyone and I will be back for sure!

I want to use this feedback to thank you for everything!
There are a lot beautiful feedbacks here that describe the daily life and atmosphere very well. So I will not write it again even if I could 😉 I spent 3 1/2 beautiful month here and it was just the beginning 😉
I want to thank you for being you! For being so beautiful, shining people and for bringing light to this world. I miss your open hearts! The program called self-discovery and its true… you discover yourself.
The classes are very eye-opening and full-filling. If you have more questions after the class than before, it was a good one 🙂 There is always space for other opinions and discussions which makes everything really open and lively.
The mindfulness during work is very special and incredible helpful. One can directly practice an idea and it really intense a topic. It really changes the atmosphere of the work to something unique. Ofek is doing his job amazing! Toda raba!
The variety of the classes makes the week very interesting and gives everything a movement. That more and more people from the community are involved gives one the opportunity to really get to know the spiritual side of the community. It’s one of the best sides 😉
I could write endless over my time there but the best thing is to come and to experience it by oneself. I really would recommend staying as long as possible. Every week you spent more fills your life a little bit more. At least a month!
It was so much fun in the volunteer house and I meet friends for life there!
So thank you again for filling my life with love and light. You all showed me the light in this world and opened a new world for me. You changed my life in a way I could never imagine. I found a home and my place to be 🙂
Love you all very much!!!
I miss you and can’t wait to come back home!! Sent you all my love!

Being in this place as a volunteer was truly one of the best experiences in my life. The work is fun, the people are amazing. I stayed here for five months and every single day I was happy and thankful to be here. During working hours there was so much to learn from building beds, compost toilet to painting signs for the recycling area and being creative. The meditations in the evenings were awesome, the classes fascinating and the yoga amazing. I don”t know what I will miss the most. I will just miss everything and come back soon. Love Anika

Harel is a unique Intentional Community!
The village located in the Negev desert, in a very peaceful and gentle scenery.
I spent around 3 weeks with the community and it was very warm welcoming from my very first step! The community has a very special connection with their volunteers being very respectful and loving.
The Volunteers house is sweet and cozy, bringing together poeple of the community with the volunteers.
They lately initiated a new program that combines volunteer work along with different classes to enhance your body & soul! it feels good to be part of something greater, meet people from the community, and deepen the experience.
I am grateful for my time in the village, being able to study some eco-construction and sustainabity. I worked with people who have a deep awareness of their reality and focus on making our world a better place. The Volunteer division is amazing, and carefull, making sure you feel comfortable and have a meaningful experience.
It is a great oppurtinity to meet some alternative commune lifestyle in Israel, sharing knowledge, dancing, making arts, meditating, chilling or whatever you feel like.

What a beautiful and magical place.. Thank you so much for such an amazing experience.
tsohar is definitely a place that will always have a warm corner in my heart. As soon as we arrived there, all the people in the community adopted us the volunteers and made us feel as we were part of them. Always smiling and asking how are we doing, showing genuine interest in us and opening their hearts to us.
The awareness in those people, combining spiritual and communal type of living, is something you don’t get to see so often, if ever.
The jobs to be done are not complicated, and every little thing you do is accepted with extreme appreciation and a big smile, not taking for granted anything. ofek, the guy that is usually in charge of the volunteers, makes you want to give as much as you can from yourself and turns working into a fun and nourishing activity. During the day you also have a lot of free time for yourself, and there are always different activities given to the volunteers from the community members such as meditation, spiritual classes, yoga etc.
thank you ofek, roi, mashav, malin and all of garin harel for an amazing time. i’ll definitely come and visit:)

Wow!! I spent 2 weeks here and it was really such a special experience.
This community is a bubble of light in the desert.
Every day we worked we had mindfulness during work talk and it helped keep up present and motivated during the day. You can really tell how much the community appreciates the work the volunteers do.
At night we have a spiritual class led by someone in the community.
Such a great way to learn about what everyone knows and to explore different aspects of ourself. The people are amazing with open hearts, open arms and open doors.
I recommend this place to anyone and everyone 🙂
